Ibex Dunes
As south as south gets
Ibex Dunes is pretty far out of the way as far as Death Valley spots go. Situated at the very southern edge, literally just a mile or two from the boundary, is this off the grid dune formation.
A long dirt road takes you out within a mile’s walk of the dunes and, if you’re up to it, to an abandoned mica mine just beyond, literally untouched for decades and still hanging in the balance of an ongoing lawsuit.
Beware though: not everything is as it seems on this trail! For all the details, check out our FULL BLOG POST HERE.

Pros:
The old mine out back is really cool.
Cons:
This is so far out of the way, you have to make a day of it.
There’s no easy way to get there.
The road is trash.
