While Barcelona dates as far back as the Neolithic period, the first city of Barcino was established by the Romans in the 1st century BC. Walk through the Gothic Quarter and you’ll find ancient Roman ruins at almost every corner. If ancient history isn’t your thing, visit Barcelona for the architecture, the culture, and the food. Just don’t forget you’re in Catalan country now.

Once a hustling bustling city, Cordoba is now a somewhat forgotten town on the stretch of road between Granada and Seville. But Cordoba is an ancient place that’s all about quality over quantity. Make a day to stop and see the famous Mezquita, the royal palace, and the Roman bridge. Don’t forget a day trip to Medina Azahara if long lost cities is your thing.

Granada has been populated as far back as 5500 BC. It has been inhabited by Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, and Muslims before it was transformed into a Christian city over 500 years ago.

It is most notably known as the birthplace of Flamenco dancing, but also for the incredible tradition of tapas and home to some of the world’s best preserved examples of Moorish architecture.

The Andalusian capital and home to the Real Alcazar. One of only a handful of buildings still in existence boasting original Moorish design, the Alcazar is the oldest royal palace still in use today. At over 1000 years old, it is quite a sight. While you’re here, check out the Plaza de Espana and Seville Cathedral.
