Inyo Mine
A hidden gem deep in the desert
I absolutely loved Inyo Mine. But be warned, the reward requires quite a bit of work to get to. The nastiest, rockiest, more rutted dirt road in the world awaits you for a nine and a half mile journey into the hot bowels of the desert. But the camp is absolutely spectacular with old miner’s shacks and drilling equipment still in intact. The upper mine is also open to explore if you’re into that whole “stupid ways to die” thing.
I spent an entire day weaving through the canyons, photographing the landscape, and exploring the mine and nearby hills. Check out our FULL BLOG POST HERE to see all the cool stuff we found.

The invisible Echo Canyon Rd is just off the 190 south of Badwater/Furnace Creek junction.
Head east a little over nine miles and you’ll come straight into the township.

Anywhere you want. The place is abandoned after all.

Pros:
Tons of intact structures and things to check out.
Literally no one else will be out there.
Cons:
Very long and rough terrain requires a 4×4, pref high clearance.
