Oyster Stacks

The Deal

Oyster Stacks is located within the bounds of Cape Range National Park. From what I’d read online, this beach offers some of the most magical and pristine corals in all of Western Australia. And because it is so amazing, it is also one of the busiest beaches to visit.

On the day I visited Oyster Stacks, the parking lot was busting at the seams. I arrived to find a beach littered with people during a tide that I deemed too low to snorkel in. Unfortunately, I wasn’t going to risk doing any damage to the reef, although apparently no one else minded. For reference, in some of the drone photos below, you can see the coral emerging from the water during this extraordinarily low tide. Just because you can access something does not mean you should.

  • Cape Range National Park WA 6707

Oyster Stack is at the end of Yardie Creed Rd.

  • Small circular parking lot. Gets full fast.

  • $17 entrance fee to Cape Range National Park.

  • Pros: Pristine snorkeling conditions if you go during high tide.

Cons: If it’s a busy day, you may not find parking. Tide dictates access to the water so check the tide schedule before you go out.
