Drunken Buddha
JING - LAS VEGAS, NV
I try to avoid “trendy” places at all costs. Why? Because I try to avoid people, and generally all the people are at the trendy places. Usually you can find me at a run down local’s hole in the wall or the comforts of my own home, but on the off chance I have to go somewhere, the further away from the Strip, the better. So I was persuaded to try this trendy little spot in Downtown Summerlin called Jing. All the atmosphere of a Vegas lounge without the Strip drama.
I had an opportunity to sample several of the drinks and a few menu items. Had the fried rice, which was killer. But the stand out for me was their signature cocktail the Drunken Buddha. First of all, it comes in stemware higher than my heels, as all stemware should be. I have a hard-on for tall and dainty cocktail glasses and this did not disappoint. Second, the cocktail itself was delicious. Ketel One Citron vodka, a splash of pineapple, a little triple sec, shaken with Pallini Limoncello? Good God. The result was a delightful, refreshing concoction, ideal for summer sipping. That’s a feeling that can’t be beat, especially when it’s 120° outside!
All in all, I’d give Jing a go again. The service was excellent, presentation impeccable. My only negative, and it’s a big one, is the never ending barrage of douchebags wearing their shades inside and attempting to cover their wedding band tanlines. Like I said, “trendy”.
