The Devil’s Concubine

GOLDEN TIKI - LAS VEGAS, NV

The Devil's Concubine cocktail at Golden Tiki. Las Vegas foodie travel guide.

This week I decided to stop over at a little spot called The Golden Tiki. If you’re from Vegas, you know it. If you’re not, you probably still do. Once a hole in the wall in the middle of Chinatown, this place is now an uber popular hotspot for just about everyone, from tourists to locals, bankers to bartenders. Think Fantasy Island, but NC-17: the Tiki is very phallus forward. Don’t believe me? Make sure to check out the wallpaper in the bathroom.

A little birdie told me they had some new cocktails out so of course I had to stop in and check ‘em out. First I ordered the tiki flight, which includes the smaller, cuter, but still equally boozy versions of the Mai-Tai, Piranha Punch, and Painkiller. I also indulged in the Lime in the Coconut, which is served en fuego. Not that I have any business being near fire; all my parts are highly flammable.

The standout of the night, however, was The Devil’s Concubine. This bad boy is all about decadence, with rum, brandy, guava, and coconut cream, topped with a single cattleya flower (I was a botanist before I was a boozer). While I was initially suspicious of the creamy appearance, having never been a fan of thicker cocktails, I was pleasantly surprised to find it’s more of an optical illusion from the extra frothy top. This cocktail is smooth and refreshing, and I certainly wouldn’t say no to a second; however, at $14 a pop, I’d rather a tall, dark and handsome man buy me one.

As for happy hour, you know I wouldn’t leave you hanging! Everyday from 4-7pm, enjoy select house cocktails for $8 and snacks starting at $5. Pro-tip: the “Sticky Fingers” are fire.
